Default DMH Low Profile Electric Cutouts - Write Up
I got the cutouts today, still waiting on new mounting plates from DMH and upgraded gasket from Modern Muscle. I should have the new mounting plate by Friday with they're gasket, which I will use untill MM gasket comes in, then I will swap.

Since the low pro cutouts are used I cleaned them thoroughly and tested them out and both are working great. Although I noticed that one cutout is slower than the other, not sure if it's an issu. Actually the movement is the same speed, just that one is slightly delayed.

I misunderstood from previous theads on what was needed to run the wiring properly. I had thought that they required a 30a fuse, but not so, they only require a 20a. I decided to wire the same as everyone else, tapping into the cig lighter, which is already 20a. I never used the lighter and I always charge my cell from the arm rest connect. So I tapped the positive into the positive line for the lighter and ground as well. Didn't seem like there was a reason for mento ground it anywhere else. I removed the lighter connect and is zipped with cutout wire, tucked in. I also couldn't decide where to place the switch, didn't want to drill any holes on panels or bezels and plan on eventually doing a BT switch plate. So for now, I removed the actual lighter assembly, which left a hole for me to place the switch for now. The hole is a little bigger, so tomorrow I will find away to secure it in place.

Of course I tested the cutouts multiple times during installing the wire and switch and all is working perfectly. I hope to have the cutouts installed on Monday or possibly Saturday, depending on when the mounting plate gets here. Once it's in I will post pix of setup and video for sound difference.

Thanks to all that put in they're input and special thanks to STROGUY (Randy) for his patience and guidance.

Update: I removed the entire cig lighter assembly, leaving a hole for me to mount the cutout switch, but the hole is bigger than switch. I couldn't find a plastic adapter, fortunately I tried "power brake check grommet and it fit perfectly and the switch is secure. Here's the pic of grommet...

Here's the ash tray switch..

I will post more pix of install and unit later tonight. I will also be running the wiring through the firewall grommet into the bay and wrap it up secure, so it will be ready once they weld the cutouts.

Thanks steve! I hope to have it tucked up as much as possible. I always take speed bumps, ramps and dips at an angle. I'll see how it all lines up during install and of course try and take pix. Althought it's close to the backside of the front tires, that should help protect them from getting hit, it's more of the center of the car that's an issue, also the front/rear.

I just setup for tackling to run the wires through the firewall, ugh! Won't be easy because of the female connector ends are so freaken big compare to the opening. May end up cutting the wires, so it will be easier to push through the freaken grommet. I'll see.......

Just had the cutouts installed this morning. I ran the wiring already and just had to drop it down, then run to the cutouts. I was concerned that the wires may come to close to the mids, but the exhaust installer from Lou's custom exhaust in peabody did an amazing job. The mounting plates I got from DMH were not perfectly welded, luckily my guy finished it up and no leaks. Dave from DMH sent a special high heat RTV silicone that seemed to do the trick, but I'm still waiting on my new gaskets from Modern Muscle.

I will post pix and video soon. May not grt the vid today, we'll see. The wire ran to the drivers side was snaked through the frame and popped out lined up with the drivers cutout. I'll be sure to post the install pix today.

My .02 on the mod, WOW!!!!!, amazing difference and I'm loving this mod. Not sure how often I'll open them, but damn.....when I do....be afraid.... Did it to a SS and his mouth was open....had me rolling...

I apologize, because i didn't take many pictures of install. I didn't think it was necessary, because there are already plenty of threads on this mod. I just did it a little differently. Most tap into the cig lighter, i just replaced it with the cutout switch, which i then ran the line under lower dash panel, beneath the steering wheel. Zipped it to the only rubber grommet i could find leading out into the engine bay, then bunched the lines up and zipped it. I tucked it up around the wiper blade motor untill the cutouts could be welded on.
here's the few pics of have of the interior and grommet area to run the line out from.
cig lighter assembly removed:

cutout switch:

under the drivers dash, grommet opening: not necessary to remove lower dash panel to get to it.

engine bay opening:
