In the old days I just cut springs to get the desired stance but I will admit that I am not a super skilled mechanic and I don't want to hurt my Pearl and want to do it right.
I just ordered new rims the same size I have now 20 x 8.5 I know that some will say that I should go 22" but I just don't want big wheels. Anyway, I want to lower Pearl with some springs that someone keeps telling me to get... Cough..Julio...Cough and the tire size that I have is 245 45 20. This is the tallest tire I could go with my 20's to try to fill the gap.
The question is if anyone knows if I am going to ok with these or do I need to get 245 40 20. My tire guy said to ask the manufacturer of the spring kit the max tire size recommended which I asked the seller and they did not have that info. The back wheels look like they will be ok but I am worried about the front which looks like it will be close once everything settles. I was also told that when turning I might have an issue.
I believe the formula for this is that the max diameter should not exceed 28.5" and no wider than 10" but I am hoping that someone out there knows the magic answer before I order the tires. What I might end up doing is lowering it on the wheels and tires that I have now so that if there is rubbing I know to get the 245 40 20
Please Help!!
Thanks!

go to this site, http://1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp and get the exact differences and that will give you a better idea on your space. i would think that it wouldn't be an issue, especially with 8.5 width wheels. the only issue i would think of, is the front upper arm bolt. i just shaved mines down a little and no issues.

I was told about a tire size comparison calculator (Thanks Jimmy) and the size that I was sold 2 years ago turns out to be just a tad over the reccomended max size and I haven't had any trouble so far...*shrug*
Below is a side by side comparison from the stock 215/65/17 and 245/45/20 as well as the overall diameter of the 40 series.
Thanks Jimmy. so far I have learned a lot in a short amount of time. I am liking this site already.

Another standard size for the srt was 255/45-20, which gives it a slight increase in diameter for stock setup and something you can compare it to.
Glad I could help. Let me know if I can help with anything else.

Springs are here but I need a new floor jack and some jack stands. I was hoping to have the springs installed this weekend but I'll probably just pay someone to install since I work 12 hours a day. Pics coming soon.

Ok...I got her dropped today. These pics are crappy and my Pearl is dirty so I apologize. I just wanted to share. The KSport springs are good quality and are way better than stock. I am not 100% happy with the rear as it only dropped about 1.25 right now so I have a slight rake. I will fix it if it doesn't even out.

Better pics soon. After looking at the pics, the rear isn't too bad now...It must have settled a little more driving back to work. *shrug*
Thanks for all the help. Watch for the new tires and wheels getting mounted very soon.
